The city of Naperville, IL, located in the Illinois Technology and Research Corridor, has a number of employment opportunities for new residents. Back in the 1980s and 1990s, there was a massive boom in the employment industry when a number of different corporate companies headquartered themselves in the Naperville area. This helped to label the city as one of the ten fastest growing communities in the United States. Some of these businesses include Bell Labs, Western Electric, BP Amoco Labs, Nalco Chemical, Nicor, Porsche Financial Services, Edward Hospital, and Allied Van Lines. More recently, businesses like OfficeMax, Tellabs, Laidlaw, Fermilab and Argonne National Laboratory headquarters have been added.

Naperville is also home to one of the largest groups of automobile retailers in the entire state. From Hinsdale to Aurora -- called the "Ogden Avenue Strip" -- you will find every mainstream make of automobile available today. One of the largest automobile retailer groups in the city is Bill Jacobs, but the biggest dealership in the entire state of Illinois (based on sales) is the Toyota/Scion dealership that is based in Naperville.

Here you can also find the Dukane Precast headquarters, which is one of the area's major precast concrete manufacturers, and is a major contributor to the local construction industry.

The Naperville area also contains one of the nation's largest retail districts. In 2009, the retail occupancy reached 92%, and the square footage income is over and above the national average. The Main Street Promenade is considered the upscale mixed retail and residential base for the downtown Naperville area. Above the street-level shops are the condominium and loft residential areas, while the shops are made of upscale national retailers and other independently owned boutiques. However, rather than sticking with a traditional mall layout, the Main Street Promenade is made of numerous blocks in the center core of downtown. The amount of foot traffic in the area is usually quite heavy, and the majority of the businesses thrive. Some of the major retailers in the Main Street Promenade include: Chico's, Talbots, Pottery Barn, Coldwater Creek, Restoration Hardware, Gap, Barnes & Noble, Ulta and Wolf Camera. There are also a number of dining areas and eateries in which you can indulge yourself. Some of these places include: Cold Stone Creamery, Jamba Juice, Chipotle Mexican Grill, Corner Bakery Cafe, Ted's Montana Grill, Potbelly Sandwich Works, Starbucks Coffee, Noodles and Company, and many others.

Tourism is also another major contributor to the Naperville Economy. One of the biggest destination points is the Moser Tower and Millennium Carillon. The tower is situated just north of Aurora Avenue and is at the base of Rotary Hill in the Riverwalk Park complex. The building was specifically designated as a Grand Carillon with its 72 bells, and is only one of the four worldwide that span six octaves.

Now you can see that Naperville wasn't rated one of the top three cities to live in for nothing! Be sure to take a visit just to see how amazing this city is.
